Local Spotlight: Mountain Mineral Market — Where Crystals, Community, and Healing Come Together
At the heart of Lakewood, Colorado, tucked away near 23rd and Kipling, lies a local gem—Mountain Mineral Market—a family-owned crystal and gift shop that has quickly become a beloved community staple. From stunning mineral specimens to houseplants, handmade jewelry, and metaphysical treasures, this vibrant shop has something magical for everyone.
Recently featured on Great Day Colorado, owners Josh Johnson and Andy Clements shared their inspiring journey from pandemic pivots to becoming one of Denver’s go-to destinations for crystals, plants, and holistic gifts.
A Pandemic Pivot with Heart
Before founding Mountain Mineral Market, Josh was a chef at Boulder’s well-loved Fresca Food and Wine, and Andy was a teacher at the JCC in Denver. Like many during the pandemic, they found their traditional careers on pause and decided to lean into a shared passion: their growing crystal collection.
“We just started puttering around with trading and selling,” said Andy. “It grew and grew until we opened our shop in March—and then welcomed our second child in April!”
More Than Just a Rock Shop
Mountain Mineral Market isn’t your average crystal store. It’s a carefully curated experience inspired by the couple’s love of natural beauty and healing energy. Their vision? Create a one-stop shop for everything they themselves had once searched all over town to find: crystals, plants, gifts, and good vibes.
“We really wanted a place where all the things we had been driving around town to find could be in one spot—and it turns out, a lot of people wanted that too.”
In addition to their retail storefront, they also offer wholesale crystal pricing for resellers and boutique owners through their Crystal Wholesale Denver program.
Crystals with Meaning
Whether you’re a seasoned rockhound or just getting started, the store offers crystals for every budget and belief.
“We have people who come in looking for help with emotional, physical, or mental wellness,” Andy explained. “Some carry a pocket stone for courage—others use crystals in art, jewelry-making, or mindfulness practices. Each crystal carries a different energy, and it’s personal to everyone.”
Monthly Markets and Magical Events
The magic doesn’t stop at the store shelves. Mountain Mineral Market hosts monthly markets, welcoming 15–30 local artists, crafters, and makers. These events offer an affordable and supportive platform for small businesses to showcase their work.
Some past vendors have grown so much that they’ve gone on to open their own shops.
Upcoming Events:
-
January Crystal Festival: A full-day market with vendors, food trucks, live music, and a store-wide sale.
-
February 5: Full Moon Gathering: An enchanting evening with tarot readings, live art, mocktails, and more.
-
Crystal Classes: Educational experiences are coming soon for those curious to learn more about mineral healing, geology, or metaphysics.
